Congress has a lot of powers, the main power that they have is the power to create laws. This would be an example of an expressed power of congress. An expressed power is a power that is stated in the constitution and gives a specific power to a person or a group of people. Then you have an implied power which is a power given to a person or group of people that is not specifically given in the constitution. An example of this in congress would be the elastic clause. The requirements to be in the senate are at least 30 years old, a U.S. citizen for at least nine years at the time of election to the senate, and a resident of the state one is elected to represent in the senate.
