Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression
•Americans have the right to free speech, religion, press and assembly.
Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms
•Americans have the right to bear arms.
Amendment 3 - Quartering of Soldiers
•Soldiers cannot be quartered in a house without the owner's permission.
Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure
•The right to protect you're house or belongings from unreasonable searches. Searches can only be practiced if there is a warrant made under a probable cause.
Amendment 5 - Trial and Punishment, Compensation for Takings
•Americans' right to refuse self incrimination.
Amendment 6 - Right to Speedy Trial, Confrontation of Witnesses
•The right to a speedy trial and to witnesses.
Amendment 7 - Trial by Jury in Civil Cases
•The right to have a jury in your trial.
Amendment 8 - Cruel and Unusual Punishment
•You will not have cruel or unusual punishments for the crimes you have committed.
Amendment 9 - Construction of Constitution
•The enumerated rights of the people should not be changed or taken away.
Amendment 10 - Powers of the States and People
•Powers not given to the federal government are given to the states or to the people.
Amendment 11 - Judicial Limits
•The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.
Amendment 12 - Choosing the President, Vice-President
•States the process of electing the President and Vice-President.
Amendment 13 - Slavery Abolished
•No slavery shall be allowed in the United States.
Amendment 14 - Citizenship Rights
•States the process of becoming a citizen of the United States.
Amendment 15 - Race No Bar to Vote
•You cannot be denied the right to vote because of race.
Amendment 16 - Status of Income Tax Clarified
•Congress can decide on how much you have to pay for income taxes.
Amendment 17 - Senators Elected by Popular Vote
•Senators have a term of 6 years. They are elected by popular vote.
Amendment 18 - Liquor Abolished
•Liquor is illegal.
Amendment 19 - Women's Suffrage
•The right for women to vote.
Amendment 20 - Presidential, Congressional Terms
•Presidential and Vice Presidential terms end at noon on January 20th. Senators and Representatives end their terms at noon on January 3rd. If the President elect dies before January 20th, the Vice President elect will be President. During the terms of the President and Vice President, if the President dies, then the Vice President would become President.
Amendment 21- Which Repealed Amendment 18
•Amendment 18, the Prohibition of Alcohol, is repealed.
Amendment 22 - Presidential Term Limits
•No President may serve more than two terms, or for those acting as President, two years after those two terms.
Amendment 23 - Presidential Vote for District of Columbia
•Allows the citizens of the District of Columbia to vote for Electors and Presidents.
Amendment 24 - Poll Tax Barred
•Citizens have the right to vote even if they cannot pay poll tax or any other tax.
Amendment 25 - Presidential Disability and Succession
•If the President dies or resigns, the Vice President will become President. If there is no Vice President, the President will nominate a Vice President that Congress must approve.
Amendment 26 - Voting Age Set to 18 Years
•Right to vote for U.S. citizens that are 18 years old or older.
Amendment 27 - Limiting Changes to Congressional Pay
•No law can change the pay of any member of Congress until the next set term.
